VisualARQ provides IFC features that help architects, engineers, and professionals of the AEC industry to exchange 3D models between Rhino and other BIM programs.
The IFC guide from Rhino to Revit is aimed at helping users to export and import models between Rhino and Revit using the IFC file format. The guide provides useful information for the following topics:
- How does the import & export through IFC work?
- What information can be stored in IFC files generated with VisualARQ?
- How are VisualARQ and Rhino objects recognized in Revit?
- Solutions for common problems in this process.
The guide also adds tips of how to tag any Rhino geometry with specific IFC type or how to add custom parameters to geometry for IFC files.

The needs of users are constantly changing and evolving. Since the first version of VisualARQ launched in 2009, all the improvements that the users themselves – architects, engineers or interior designers – have asked for have been gradually incorporated. In the following post we explain what the main improvements are in the recently released 2.0 version:
Flexible BIM with VisualARQ Presentation
The Rede brasileira de fabricaçao digital in collaboration with the TI Lab organize in Sao Paulo a presentation-webinar of the Flexible BIM features of VisualARQ 2.
The architect Affonso Orciuoli will show the main VisualARQ features for working with BIM objects inside Rhino such as walls, stairs, windows, etc., which are treated as parametric objects, combining architectural modeling with Rhino's free-form modeling. The presentation will show how VisualARQ is capable of generating all 2D documentation (plants, cuts, facades, details) directly from the 3D model, the full integration with Grasshopper and the BIM features to export and import IFC models between Rhino and other BIM programs.
The webinar will be presented in Portuguese.
Guest speaker: Affonso Orciuoli
Host: João Gaspar
Date: January 31, 2018, 2:00 pm (GMT-2)
TI Lab location: Rua Cláudio Soares, 72, Pinheiros, São Paulo
The presentation-webinar is free, but seats are limited.
The architecture and construction sector not only requires an efficient way to develop complex projects in the interests of achieving the best use of time and resources, but also wants greater creativity and originality. There is no doubt whatsoever that BIM is here to stay, and that it should help to optimize time and standardize processes. However, does it limit the designs of new buildings and infrastructures? In this article we explain the concept of Flexible BIM to you, how it is used and how it works in VisualARQ for Rhino.
